Why Does QQ always have to be so damn childish and apparently "cute"? Its strange that a program tries to be cute really I use it just because my chinese friends don't know how to use anything else mostly some msn a little bit or skype

yes, qq is born in china and used by cinese. it's reasonable that qq is so popular in china. is there anything wrong with it? every country has it's own feature, culture, nobody can ask two countries to be the same, and in fact that's imporssible. we also use qq for business except entertainment in our work. let's suppose that if you're not in china, haven't learnt chinese, never traveled abroad, can you know qq is widely used in china? the software widely used in your country can't suit for other countries, or they didn't open the oversea's market, so it isn't used in china. I think the reason is simple, and clearly. so my suggestion is, try to understand and learn more about china and chinese. your question shows that you know too little about us. maybe you can find the answer after you know chinese and china more. I think there's nothing wrong with qq, nothing wrong with cute, nothing wrong with chilish. it's reasonable, as it exists.

in fact we never feel it cute or childish. maybe that's the feature of the chinese young. and the truth is, when we talk about qq, we know it changed our lives, and we love it, although we know it's dummy. obviously, life is full of art in china, right?

Hehe, I guess you'd make a lousy PR manager, jazza_111. :D Every culture has a slightly different way of enjoying things like entertainment and stuff like that. You can see the difference when you check out websites. Chinese websites for e.g. news tend to be long (xinhuanet.com for example) and most feature five pictures you can check by clicking on the 1,2,3,4,5-buttons. Dutch websites tend to be stylized, slim and short like http://www.nu.nl/ and http://www.vi.nl/ I suppose marketing research has shown that Dutch people hate to scroll so the companies take this into account when they design their website. Well, the same thing goes for chat programs. MSN sort of has a more stylized, clean look focussed on attracting a large audience. QQ focusses on the youth and is therefore more suited towards teenagers. Well and some features are really good like the option to capture a part of the screen and sent it to the other person. Wish they'd implement that in MSN.
