보니 Verb ending in Korean
I am a bit confused as to the exact meaning of this verb ending and how to know when and when not to use it. This has been one that has been difficult to find information on the internet about. But someone used it on me in a sentence.
Thank you so much for any help or direction.

Thank you! Haha! I'm feeling pretty dumb right now for not realizing that. I guess 보다 is used so much for some reason I didn't 'get it' when someone used it in a sentence in a way that was unfamiliar to me. I thought it was a different structure or something. Ahhhh.... one more lesson learned. Thank you so much!

I guess you've wrote the verb ending -니, because 보니 consists of "보다(verb: see)" + -니. the ending -니 is used to indicate the causal relationship between the actions.
밥을 먹으"니" 배가 부르다. (You're stuffed. Why? Because you've eaten something.)
비가 오"니" 땅이 젖는다.
너를 보니 예전 친구가 생각이 난다.
