Why do pandas seem to be named the same name twice? Ling Ling, Yum Yum, etc. Honest question, is there some method in the Chinese language for naming in this pattern?

This way of naming is usually taken to create a nickname.
The duplication of a particular word will make the panda's name more cute, while easier for people to call it.

It seems to be nick name or short name.In China,some parents always call their childen in thus name,this is a way to expressing their love.
