I mean the situation, when you can use confident in the office or job. What does it mean then? Trust?

I would say to be confident in the work place means that "you know your job very well".

Yes Maria; James has brought to your attention, that there are two terms which can be confused.
(1) Confidence. It refers to the "trust" that we have in ourselves, or in other people.
It is contrasted with (2) Confidante. This refers to the term which describes our most trusted friend. A Confidante (pronounced Con-----Fi----Dahnt" with a silent "e") refers to the one person in hour life to which we tell all of our secrets and our concerns. We trust them with the knowledge of all of our struggles and conflicts in life and about our personal relationships.
Another student asked if it was okay for a young lady to have a man (or someone on the Internet, for example, for a Confidante). Several people, including myself, suggested that it was
a plausible (or okay) practice, providing that one can trust the other party. Some people cannot be trusted though. Trust must be developed by Trial and Error.
I have at least a Dozen students, who are very close, and about 7 of them are "confidantes". They share details about their personal experience, and I share mine.
It is a powerful experience to have a confidante, because it alleviates the feeling that "I am different" or that "I must be crazy!".
---------------
Still, looking at the other context, we can say that "I am am confident!" or "I have confidence!" and it means that we feel very positive about what we can do.

Without context, it is difficult to answer.
I was wondering: Do you mean "ConfidAnt"?
A confidant is someone whom you can trust. You can tell him/her personal things, and s/he will NOT tell other people.
