Why is "Г" sometimes pronounced "V"?
Most notably in words like "его," my Rosetta Stone will instruct the pronunciation as "evo." Is this a correct pronunciation? If so, is there any grammatical reason that it is pronounced "evo" rather than "ego"?

«Г» is pronounced as «V» in the grammatical endings –ого –его (большого, синего, бегущего, того, своего, него, его, этого, моего, кого, ничего etc) and in the words «сегодня», «сегодняшний», «итого».

Переход звука "Г" в звук "В" очень част в русском языке. Примеров много. "Красивого" - "красивово", "Такого" - "Таково", "Умного" - "Умново", "Примечательного" - "Примечательново" и т.д. В основном все слова, закачивающиеся "-го" оглушаются до "-во".
Грамматических причин тут не вижу, скорее всего это исторически сложившееся произношение. Такое произношение выглядит более естественным в среде русскоговорящих людей.
