What is the difference between close-up and foreground?
I want to know what is the difference between close-up and foreground. I have read some internes pages and I think the two words mean the same basically, bat I should use close-up when I was talking about cinema or photography and I should use foreground when I was talking about art. Is this true?

Answer

"foreground" is what is nearest to the painter, photographer, etc. It is usually at the bottom of the picture to allow you to see the background above, but it could be anywhere and any size.

"close-up" is when something is the focus of the picture so that it takes all (or almost all) the space.

It is possible for them to be the same. For example in this picture: [ http://bit.ly/14Rjr1o ] it is a close-up of a tree and it's in the foreground.
