4.死心眼.死心.心寒.鐵了心腸 (none of them are nouns, you can take the whole sets as phrases put into the sentence at the position of verb.) Chinese say "用心" means "with effort, with passion"(Chinese used to think we feel things, experience things with heart instead of brain.) So when your heart has already been dead means you don't have passion anymore. And when your eyes has already been dead means you don't look forward anymore. 心寒 means your heart that used to be with passion has been turned cold. Even frozen. 鐵了心腸 means your heart and intestine are turned into stone, so you won't be touched. (不會被軟化、感動) *Don't disguise 鐵了心腸 with 鐵石心腸,鐵石心腸 means the organs are originally stone, means "cool, with no sympathy nor mercy." 5.財迷心竅 we have to discuss 竅 here. 靈魂出竅: here, 竅 means your body. 七竅生煙:竅 means the holes of your eyes, nose, ears, and your mouth. Anyway, I don't know you would take this from which aspect. However, that's just means all the body or all the feeling are enchanted and controlled by money. 6.空落落 is a expression "you feel empty like you drop something and you cannot find it back or make it up." I mean maybe you can memorize this way. Cuz a lot of "an adj+ two same characters" in Chinese doesn't really mean something different from the first adj. (But sometimes they do. Alright, it's sometimes hard for native speaker as well.) 7.苦過來 過來here means "has been through" We call people have the same experience, have been through the same thing "過來人"。(The experience is often bitter, bittersweet, or valuable) Ex: You are bullied today, and Mary comes to tell you she was bullied when she was in elementary school. Then you can call her "過來人。" so we might hear some successful business men say "我也是苦過來的"which means " I had been suffering before." I guess that is! Really inspiring question! All in all, hope this helps!

1.看她那财迷样.(Imperative Sentence)Look at that mammonish woman! "...样" means "...的样子". "财迷" has a formal way to express, that is "拜金". "拜" means "崇拜" admire. 2.你真败家. "败"is usually known as "失败"fail.but it should be understand as "prodigal". you can understand "败" as "collapse"here. so "败家" means collapse your family. "败家"is a verb/adj. "败家子" is a noun means people who are prodigal 3.他是一个念旧的人. he's a people who often consider somethings related. 对于推选奥巴马还是希拉里,我不应该念旧. I shouldn't have considered our friendship, while voting for Obama or Hilarie. "念"means "思念","旧" means something have had occurred, which made you unforgettable. 4.她真死心眼. she is "死心眼" (I'm sorry it's really complicated to find a word to describe this expression) "死心眼"obstinate(derogatory adj) or faithful(commendatory adj) 5.你是不是财迷心窍了? Are you enticed by money? it's similar to 财迷样.BUT it's a verb often have unactive meanings. "财"means money.noun "迷"means entice.verb "心窍"mean heart 6.我的心里空荡荡的. My heart is empty.(literal translation)(unrecommended) I'm dull. we uesd 空荡荡 more frequently than 空落落 It's a adj. used to describle a situation in which you're dull. 7.苦过来 i don't know if your cut is corrcet so i want to know the original sentence to explain it appropriately to you All the examples are made by myself.hope it can help you

If you don't read traditional Chinese just put it into google. Google gets no barrier to translate traditional to simplified. ( but gets barrier to change simplified into traditional.) When you are reading the passage, watch out the objective and subjective! They do not often appear or you can just see either one but not both. You offered really good words. 1.財迷樣 -means "the look of being (irrationally) enchanted by money." 瞧你一副財迷樣也知道這生意你是非接不可了。 -or it refers to the painting of the gods of Chinese myth that would help you gain money. It's an item about culture. 2. 敗家 *in Chinese traditional value, a "successful family" is often with a lots of money or great reputation. So "敗家" means "to squander your money or to break the reputation of your family ", that may be severe enough to make your family become fail. -about the money,(as a verb) 今天有錢剛好來百貨公司敗敗家。 This is a situation someone is joking about himself to consume in a department store. -about the reputation,(as a noun) 你這個敗家子,竟然在外頭跟人打架還被抓到警察局 。in English they often say "I'm so ashamed of you." The same function anyway. 3.念舊* means care about and considering the old (good) relationship(sometimes it can just refers to an old stuff you own). With a layer of meaning that you want to remain it. 我這個人很念舊,看著照片總是會想念過去的朋友。 *just another thing I came up with. "舊雨新知"。 舊雨 means old friend and 新知 means new friend. In Chinese we can call your super friends as "知己". Means that one knows you well and can empathy you. "故"and "舊" both means old. But you can't say 故雨 instead of 舊雨(it's an allusion). And you can't say "舊事" instead of "故事" . Compared them I would say 故 is often with reasons and 舊 don't have to be. By the way story in Chinese means "old, event that happened in the past.", isn't it fun?
