The words 'da, do, das, dos' can often be translated as simply 'of the' For example: The middle of the night The beginning of the book The centre of the city The end of the film The president of the country Are these the type of phrases you want to say? As you can see, English grammar is simpler than Portuguese, because the word 'the' has only one form.

Prepositional phrases are VERY idiomatic! You just have to learn what goes with what in English. For example, in one language you could say "I am going to the store" but in another language, a direct translation wouldn't make sense; you might have to say something like "I am going FOR the store" or "by the store."

Hi Nataly. If you are confused, maybe you can give us some phrases in Portuguese, and we can translate your phrases into English?
