How do you express your surprise when meeting someone by chance?
I want to express the surprise when meeting the old friend by chance in the street by an idiom. In that case, how would I say? Is that true if saying: "Woa, such an fat chance! Long time no see" or what? I am confused. Please help me ~~~~
Thank you in advance :)

You could say "Fancy meeting you here" to express your surprise. It's not a greeting by itself though, so you'd probably say something like "Fancy meeting you here, long time no see".

I agree with Jmat. "Fancy seeing you here" is the best way to express surprise when you see a friend unexpectedly. I would definitely not use "fat chance" - it has a very negative connotation, and it is like saying "there is no way in hell!"
E.g., Anne: "Will you marry John?"
Christine: "Fat chance I will" -> "there is absolutely no way I will marry John!"

Yes ,Long time no see is the best answer .I always say that when I see an old friend after a long time apart.
