Hi Jack, this point has been discussed a lot on italki.Learning grammar rules from a book is not effective if you don't learn the rules in the correct context. The best way to learn correct grammar is to read a lot,and listen to movies.songs and converstation and then see how sentences are correctly constructed. The key is motivation and practice.

Hello Jack: I can offer you a few good references: http://www.learnamericanenglishonline.com/Blue%20Level/B1%20Be.html http://www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=contraction&submit=Submit = Talking Dictionary in English http://www.spellingcity.com/which-word-best-completes-the-sentence.html?listId=18026286 http://www.myenglishpages.com http://www.englishlanguageguide.com/grammar/ -------------------------------------------------------------- you can also discuss these lessons with a Language Partner. ---------------------------------------------------------- However, if you assume that this is the best way to "learn English" that would not be true. Your practices in pronunciation should come first, in association with printed lesson material. .
