'Another' is just the two words AN and OTHER written as one word. An + other = another 1. We use the indefinite article 'a' or 'an' for a single, countable nouns. For example: A book A student An apple When we add the word 'other' to these phrases, it becomes 'another': I read a book in the Twilight series, and now I'm going to read another. I met a student from Argentina last week, and then I met another one. This apple is dirty. Can I have another apple, please? 2. We use 'other' for plural nouns (other people, other countries, other years) We use 'other' for uncountable nouns (other information, other accommodation) We use other for singular nouns after determiners which are not 'an', such as possessives (my, your) and demonstratives (this, that). For example: another friend/my other friend another bus/ that other bus Remember - AN + OTHER = another. Es tan facil.

I don't speak Spanish, but because I speak French, I am pretty sure I know what you mean. I hope you don't mind an English answer. "Another" indicates a resemblance to something. It is usually said when an additional item is required. For example, if you are at the grocery store and are talking with a friend about buying vegetables, you could say, "I need five potatoes. I only have four here. I need another." This indicates that you are looking for an additional potato of the same type. "Other" is used when talking about different people/things. For example, "I like red potatoes, but most others I know like baby potatoes." This refers to the different people that the speaker knows. Another example, "At lunchtime, I ate a sandwich amongst other things." This refers to the different food items that the speaker ate at lunch.

Another vs Other "Can I have that bag over there?" "This one?" "No, the other one." "Did you like your coffee?" "Yes, can I have another?" The different between the two is when you say "another" it is assumed that you already have one or multiple of whatever you are talking about while "other" insists that you want the opposite or a different thing. "I can't hang out with you right now, I have other plans." "I have a meeting now and another one tomorrow." "I'm with my one friend and another friend and I have other friends, too."

"Another" es como "una más". He liked his hamburger so much, he ate another - Él le gustó su hambuguesa tan mucho que él comiera otra más. Other es como "Otro" en que puede decir "She likes chocolates and other things that are sweet" - Ella le gustan chocolates y otras cosas dulces. Se usa para referir a una cosa similar a la que habla

'Another' is used like so, "Can I have another apple?" or "It's another parcel." The word implies that the noun has, in some way, been used in some way. If someone says "Can I have ANOTHER apple?" It means they have already had an apple recently. If someone says "It's ANOTHER parcel." Then it means that one or more parcel has arrived before it recently. 'Other' implies that there is two options to whatever has been said. "Can I open that parcel?" "This parcel?" "No, the OTHER one." This is the best I could do to explain, English is very difficult XD
