I heard that 'would' is used when people imagine a situation or action.
I wonder that situation or action is possible to occur later or not? or... Whether something to occur or not isn't important at all? Just would is used to express wishes or hopes ?

"Would" is used for many thing. Here are some examples:

wishes, hopes
I would like to be a doctor when I get older.
I would hope that he finds his a girlfriend.

possibility (it might happen or not)
If my friend drives his car, I would go to the movie. (If he doesn't, I would not go.)
