Musicians are artists, but not all artists are musicians. "Artist" commonly refers to anyone who does music, visual art like painting or sculpting, or acting, but can also be used colloquially to mean anyone who is really good at what they do. However, when we talk about a specific song, we will often call the musician the "artist" instead of the "singer" or "musician."
Hope this helps!

Music, painting, acting and many other similar activities are considered part of the creative or performing arts. A person who paints is an artist but the term can also be applied to a person who composes or plays music or acts on the stage or in cinema.
