what does " out of employment" mean? I've bumped into the following sentence in my TOEIC Test, and I really don't understand its meaning. Could you please give me some explanation? " He is regrettably out of employment".

I have never heard or seen it expressed that way before. Usually the expression is "out of work" or "unemployed".

It means he lost his previous job. He may have been fired or he may have quit, but he doesn't have a job now.
