What is the difference between 배우다 and 학습하다?

Another thing is that 학습하다 is a stiff word used mostly in writing.
In everyday conversations, we use the common word 공부하다 to mean "to study".
배우다 is "to learn", and 공부핟다/학습하다 is "to study", suggestive of books and school.
You "learn" (배우다) to swim or to ride a bike, never "study"(공부하다) them, for example.

Both means "learn, study"
But, literally, 학습하다 means "배우고 익히다" which means "learn something and familiarize with it"
Thus, 학습하다 has a nuance of familiarization.

To me, 배우다 sounds like 'to learn' and 학습하다 sounds like 'to study'
