Safety x security
Hi guys!
I would like to know if there is any difference between the following sentences:
1. By law, companies have to have a "Health and Safety" expert, who is responsible for all matters relating to the SAFETY of employees.
2. By law, companies have to have a "Health and Safety" expert, who is responsible for all matters relating to the SECURITY of employees.
Thanks in advance!

"safety" and "security" have an overlap in meaning but not entirely the same thing.
safe: not exposed to common hazards, both natural and man made - accidents, fire, natural disasters, falling rocks, ...
secure: protected from external threats, i.e, actively perpetuated harm by either men or animals - burglars, muggers, terrorists, large animals, ...
