I wouldn't use 'hail from' if I were you. 'Come from' is standard, neutral English. 'Hail from' is mainly used in slightly old-fashioned journalism, and it can sound awkward and cliched. Nobody uses 'hail from' in everyday English.

"Hail from" does indeed mean "come from", but it is used mostly for effect, and if I were you, I'd just stick to to "come from" if you're not sure of the effect you are producing.
