what is delegation
At my work we use the word delegation, and the reason why we use it, is to postpone some transactions, and forward the same to the concern person, for further actions.
This is the only way I know to use this word, other than that, I don't know the meaning of it, or where to use it.

It means giving authority and responsibility to someone else for a task or activity. It can indeed be used at work to put a subordinate in charge of some area. (The idea is actually to make things more efficient, not to postpone actions!) But it can also be used in other contexts, e.g. a national government might delegate some powers to local authorities. There's also another meaning of the word delegation, which means a group of delegates, in other words people assigned to some meeting or conference. E.g. "the US delegation to the United Nations".
