K.C. is a title which stands for 'King's Counsel'. This is a high status lawyer, usually a barrister, in Britain and Commonwealth countries. The title is bestowed by the monarch, so for the past 63 years or so, we have had Q.C.s - Queen's Counsels - rather than K.C.s.
