Want to know the Philippine "Kaliwaan" culture
Hi my name is Cathy.
Once I met a Filipino who visited Korea, he said that there is a culture of "giving gifts" when a person goes on a trip to other country. That person need to buy a lot of souvenirs for his/her friends and family. I forget the name of the culture and googled it out... is it called Kaliwaan? Can you explain more about it??
Please help :) thanks!

Kaliwaan means on the spot payment for purchases. The culture of gift giving is called "Pasalubong". It shows that even when you were away, you were still thinking of the person you're buying the gift for.

I was about to do it, but there were only 4 categories of languages (English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean), that's why I put it in the category of "culture".....

I don't know the answer but to find someone who might know try moving this question to a more appropriate category than in "learning English".
