be a mentor to someone (is the preposition corrrect?
I think the verb to mentor is transitive, so you say " mentor someone" but is the preposition " to " included in the sentence
To be a mentor to someone
or to be a mentorfor someone
And , what preposition do you use to include the type of work' I mentor him on/ in selling products
Thanks

You can 'mentor someone'. 'Mentor' is a verb here.
You can also 'be a mentor to someone' or 'be someone's mentor.' 'Mentor' is a noun here.
I mentor him on how to sell products.

You can be a mentor to someone or be a mentor for someone. Both are correct and mean exactly the same thing. You can mentor him on selling products or you can mentor him about selling products, again both mean exactly the same thing.
