A comprehension of a sentences
"There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature. A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination."
Could someone tell me what is the meaning of "A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination."?

It's hard to be sure, as you didn't give the context of what act they are talking about. But I think that it can be rewritten as: 'It didn't matter whether the intention was cruel or kind- doing what they did still seemed like a crime, as she stopped to think about it.'
A 'brief moment of illumination' in this figurative sense means that the situation seemed clearer for a short time.
'seem no less of a crime' means 'seemed like a crime'.

Remember article agreement: 'a sentence', or 'some sentences'. And 'a' is not really right either. It would be better without.
