How to translate "in the 20s" into Portuguese? Hi! I'm translating a scientific article and the phrases I need to translate are: "Mean BMI in the sample was 23.4 kg/m2 (mean weight 58.3 kg, mean height 157.7 cm), mean BMI in the 20s was 20.5 kg/m2 ..." "and women gained an average of 7.3 kg between their 20s and the study screening." I don't know how to translate properly "in the 20s" into FORMAL Portuguese. Any guess? (In daily conversation i would say "com 20 e poucos anos", but I don't like this phrase for an article, what do you think?) Thanks!

Translating "in the 20s..." into Portuguese: "Na faixa de 20 anos" ou "entre 20 a 30 anos" ou simplesmente "de 20 a 30 anos". In my opinion, the last one is more formal and clear. (Na minha opinião a última é mais formal e clara).

"and women gained an average of 7.3 kg between their 20s and the study screening." - In this case, you must ease the whole phrase so that it fit in the same sence while being translated to portuguese without get too much informal. I suggest this translation: ... e mulheres estudadas entre seus 20 e 30 anos, ganharam uma média de 7.3kg entre a data inicial do estudo e a última triagem realizada. Hope it did help. Regards.

Eu diria "20 e poucos anos" também, mas acho que "dos 20 aos 30 anos" caberia melhor para um texto formal.

Talvez eu devesse ter escrito a pergunta em português HAHAHA só fui reparar nisso agora --'. O que vocês acham de: "entre 20 e 30 anos"? Se vocês tiverem alguma sugestão mais curta ou que pareça mais científica, será MUITO bem-vinda! :) Valeu!
