Hi , Please tell me when to use as and when to use like.

In my opinion , the word " As " can be combined with " the same " to create an equally comparison . " As " can replaces " When " in many situations to make it sounds more academic :D . Or " As " can be used in this phrase " to work as a(n) ..... ( name of the job ) . On the other hand , " Like " is oftens used in informal Writing or in everyday speaking situation to support example(s) for something mentioned before or " Like" is often used as a connected word between 2 or more objects in equality comparison . For example : He looks like an Indian sailor . He shouted at me like a boss shouted at his servant . :D . I hope my explanation is clear and accurate enough . I'm learning English at the moment , too .
