How do you respond this question? I respond this first, when someone ask me wide range question in Japanese. 'Your question is too abstract. I appreciate it that you would give me more specific one.' Does it make sense when it comes to English sentences above? Or is it rude or remiss in English above? I also would like to know how do you respond in English if you were asked about abstract question without context like 'How do you think about recent young people?'.

No, it's not rude to ask for a more specific question. 'Your question is too abstract. I appreciate it that you would give me more specific one.' doesn't seem really natural to me. I think instead, you could say "Could you be more specific ?" or just "What do you mean ?" (most of the time people will understand that the question they asked was too abstract and you didn't understand the subject)
