complete text
I was born in chains but I was taken out of Egypt
I was bound to a burden, but the burden it was raised
Oh Lord I can no longer keep this secret
Blessed is the name, the name be praised.
I fled to the edge of a mighty sea of sorrow
Pursued by the armies of a cruel and dark regime
But the waters parted and my soul crossed over
Out of Egypt, out of Pharaoh’s dream

The song refers to Joseph and his descendants who were enslaved by Pharaoh and made to be "beasts of burden." Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt to the edge of the Red Sea, where they were pursued by Pharaoh's army. G-d parted the Red Sea, allowing the Israelites to escape. The Israelites fled Egypt with the bones of Joseph, who was also enslaved by Egypt and who won his freedom by interpreting Pharaoh's dreams.

"bound" = tied, attached. "burden" = something which is heavy and hard to carry. raise = lift (the sense of remove).
He is happy and thankful because he had to carry a heavy thing (perhaps metaphorically) and God removed this thing.
