Help me understand a joke
Hello.
There is a joke I don't understand.
It's from a book called "Dogs Don't Tell Jokes (Louis Sachar)".
It gose
Why'd Mrs. Snitzberry tiptoe past the medicine cabinet?
- She didn't want to embarrass the "Bare" Aspirin.
I think "Bare" sounds like "Bayer". Is it the point?
Thank you.

I think you are right that it is supposed to sound like Bayer. It is supposed to be funny because "bare" can also mean naked. I hope the other jokes in the book are funnier than this one. :)

Yes, it's a pun on "bare" and "Bayer."

I think that you are correct.
I think your lack of certainty may have stemmed from your not thinking that it is funny. It isn't funny. In fact, it is a super corny joke. That may have been the point.
By the way, the Louis Sachar book Holes is very good. I would recommend it to an English language learner.

English is my native language and I've never heard this joke. It makes no sense to me.
