What is the difference between I thanked him for helping me. vs I thanked him for having helped me. What is the difference between I thanked him for helping me. vs I thanked him for having helped me? I thanked him for helping me. vs I thanked him for having helped me. Because after he helped me, I thanked him, I think having helped me is right.

As a native english speaker, I don't really see a difference in meaning for those two sentences. I personally would just say the first one, "I thanked him for helping me." The second one seems overly complicated to me.
