1. Grammar is important for an English learner. I suggest to choose a detailed grammar textbook as your guide. Such as textbook from oxford.
2. Do not REMEMBER new words, you just need to read more, then pick up your new words/phrases in context.
3. Practice spoken English everyday, at least 15 minutes per day.
4. Make clear goals for different stages which based on your English level.
Hope my suggestions helpful.

Practice, practice, practice!! For learning languages, it is extremely important to review everyday so that your brain can familiarise itself with the paths of speaking a new language. You should try to expose yourself to English in many different ways and medias, like:
- Watching English shows and movies, listening to music (I am learning Chinese primarily through C-Pop and 《喜羊羊与太狼》, 哈哈)
- Reading English books
- Most importantly, having actual conversations in English.
Language learning will not show results in a few weeks and maybe not even a few months, it takes years to really learn it well. Keep doing what you're doing, stay motivated, and practice every day!
好事多磨!
I wish you the best of luck!

First of all, what is "well" to you?
You have to study to accomplish your goals. The first thing is thinking about your goals: do you want to study English for travel? Academic purposes? Immigration?
Put in your mind that English for Academia includes a lot of study in reading skills, so, it should be your focus. If you are more interested in travels or immigration, your focus would be conversation.
After you have your goals in mind, almost immediately you will perceive what are the skills that you have to study with more attention, and, with this information, it's time to work!
Good luck in your studies, Catherine!
