“倒” - on the contrary? Does it need to be followed by a negative (in respect to the first sentence)? E.g.

I assume you want to find the best way to say "easier said than done"? Depending on the situation I would suggest you use "谈何容易" or I've found myself just saying "说起来很简单。。。" people get what's coming next, don't really need to say it (kind of like "when in Rome." No need to finish it with "do as the Romans do.") 倒 is used is many different ways in Chinese, here are some of the ways I've used it in conversation: 1. (那)倒是 (side note: I use this waaaaay too much... Used when someone makes a statement that some might question, but you completely agree with. A: The best way to cure a cold is to drink lot's of water B: I couldn't agree more. Same as above but 'disagree' instead: A: The best way to cure a cold is to drink lot's of water 感冒最好的治疗方法就是多喝水 B: Not necessarily. Used to concur with someones train of thought or agree to their way of thinking/viewing something: A: That guy never stops talking! B: I know, but he's making a lot of sense, don't you think? 4. 倒(过来) a. upside down/reversed Can't you see it's the wrong way up? (the act of) turning something around Try turning it around, see if that works Little bit off topic but hope you found that helpful.

I remember when I learned 倒 in Chinese class back in college. The teacher told us 倒 is often used with 觉得。 。。meaning on the contrary, I believe/feel that... In your sentences, it might be better to use 反而。
