What does "address the issue" mean? Thanks! Generally "address the issues" of nutrition. I always thought it meant "fix the problem" but it doesn't seem fit for this sentence. Can it be interpreted as "talk or discuss about the topic"? Thanks.

Yes, it generally means to confront an issue and try to find a solution as you said in the second suggestion! :)
