How to response after receiving compliments?
In Chinese we always being humble after receiving compliments, but I found that it is not a normal response in English.
I usually just say "Thank you" after someone compliment me, and the conversation will become awkward silence.
How can I responses better?

You can also respond humbly in English. Not everyone responds to compliments in the same way.
"Your English is so good. "
"Thanks. I think I need to work on my pronunciation though. "
"You look so pretty today. That dress looks awesome on you."
"I got it from the Dress Barn. They had a few more left. You should see if they have your size. "
"You're a very talented writer.
"Thanks for saying so, but I think I'm just average."
"You sing so well. "
"I guess all those singing lessons my mom forced me to go to when I was younger have really paid off. "

A Thank you is best. Just leave it at that. I never saw the need to thank and then criticize ourselves.
Example: Good job on your report card!
Thanks, but really I'm not so smart. Just lucky.
Why devalue yourself? It's not necessary or good for the soul.

That depends on the compliment. Thank you is a good response, but really your response would be base don the situation
