How do you say "beef", "hot cocoa drink", "grapefruit" in Brazilian Portuguese? 1) How do you say "beef" in Brazilian Portuguese? Is it "carne de vaca'" or "carne de boi"? Which one is used more frequently? 2) How do you say "hot cocoa drink" in Brazilian Portuguese? Is it "cocoa"? 3) How do you say "grapefruit" in Brazilian Portuguese? Is it "toranja'" or "toronja"? Thank you for your help :)

Hi Ksenia, Beef= Can be 'carne de boi', 'carne de vaca' or 'carne bovina'. We use the word 'carne' for all kinds of meat. Like 'carne de porco' is pork, 'carne de frango' is 'chicken meat'. hot cocoa drink= In Brazil hot cocoa and hot chocolate are, basically, the same stuff. And the translation is 'Chocolate quente'. Grapefruit= 'toranja' or 'toronja' are right. But we normally use just 'toranja' . U r welcome.

Hello, 1 - You can say "carne" or "carne de vaca" or maybe "carne de boi". It is correct anyway. I normally use just "carne" but this can be vary. 2 - "cocoa" is "cacau" but maybe you want to say "hot chocolate drink", i guess. "Chocolate quente" in Portuguese. 3 - Yeah, "Toranja". I hope i have helped. Have a good day.
