Is 'shucks' from 'sucks'?
I know there are several expressions that mitigate and euphemize curse words. For examples, darn, dang, dern for damn, freaking for fucking, etc.
I recently got to know the word 'shucks'. it remind me of 'sucks'. Am I right? or those two words have no connection? Let me know the answer. thanks.

Shucks is an older slang word when you don't know what to say. When you receive a compliment, people often say "Awe, shucks" Or "Shucks, I don't know". Donald Duck often says it. It is not as common now. It does not relate to sucks at all. I would says stinks is the less vulgar version of sucks.

What an interesting question!
According to Merriam Webster, the first recorded instance of 'shucks' was in 1847. Apparently, it comes from a secondary meaning of the word 'shuck' - something of little value.
