"يعجبني" vs "حَبَّ"
مرحباً
I thought that "I like" was "يعجبني" in arabic.
I was just looking for it, and came across videos and dictionaries that use "حَبَّ" instead.
Is this standard arabic? If yes, is there any difference? and which one is preferable?

- As an answer for your first question: Yes, both are MSA.
- What's the difference?
Grammatically, أعجب is treated as the verb "interest" in English, i.e. the subject is the one that is being liked by the object, while أحب or حب is treated as "love"; the subject likes the object. e.g.
أحب الرجل المرأة The man loves the woman
أعجب الرجل المرأة The man interests the woman
So to get the same "meaning" you have to reverse the subject and object with أعجب and say أعجبت المرأة الرجل The woman interests the man (almost means the man loves/likes the woman).
As I see you are learning Spanish too, so think of أعجب as Spanish verb Gustar, and أحب as Amor. Actually the meaning of the verb أعجب is much more closer to the Spanish verb Gustar than it is with the English verb Like. Both grammatically and emotionally.
Emotionally there is a difference too.
- We use "like" as أعجب to indicate feelings of happiness/respect/affection/interest toward something or somebody. There is no one word that has the exact translation for أعجب as in Spanish "Gusta".
- We use "like" as أحب to indicate love/passion/excitement toward sth. or sb.
Which one is preferable? I'll leave that to your senses.
If a girl sees a dress in a store that matches her favorite color or a model that she prefers the most or was designed by a brand that she admires, she would say: "أعجبني هذا الفستان I like this dress". If all these factors are in one dress, she would say: "!يا إلهي! لقد أحببت هذا الفستان Oh my God! I love this dress!"

أحب - يحب means to love
أحب هذا الكتاب = I love this book.
يعجب + ني means "wonders me"
هذا الكتاب يعجبني = This book wonders me. (I like it.) Notice the subject in both cases!
