What is the meaning of "It was felt that"?
Hi! I am reading a report with the purpose to decide if make or not a trip. In the section "Positive opinions" appears this sentence: "It was felt that the trip would be a good opportunity to get to know some famous works of art and to learn more about them".
What is the meaning of the expression: "It was felt that"?

'It was felt that...' could also be expressed as
'It was thought that...',
'I/we/they believed...' etc.
It is basically a way to convey an emotional response, or opinion. In this case, the subject anticipated that the trip would be a good experience.

This is passive language and likely poor writing. In reviews, you want to write in the first person. Whatever the reason, it is the same as saying, "I felt that..." The person felt like going to this location would give them good opportunities to learn certain art.
