What are the differences between all of Synonums, Antonyms?
dear reader.. I am confused about how we can use synonyms in senteces, and Antonyms either
I need your help to get difference between them in use.
thank you all for your timeThank you all for the reply but I still have a point not very clear about Antonyms, I've understood the general mean but I can use it when i don't like to repeat a sentance but with using opposite of adjactive in it, for Example: once I've seen a short man, or I can repeat it again with the opposite of (short) to become the sentence: once I haven't seen very tall man
Is that I can say about it Antonyms?
I wll be happy to explain it to me with examples if you could
Thank you

Synonyms are words that have the same meaning, or very similar meanings. (She is sweet. She is nice. She is kind. Sweet, nice, and kind are synonyms.)
Antonyms are words that have opposite meanings. (He is tall. He is short. Tall and short are antonyms.)
(To remember the difference you can thing of “syn-” like “same”…synchronized music happens at the same time, synthetic fabric tries to be the same as the real fabric.)
Think of “anti-“ like “opposite”… antifreeze prevents things from freezing; antibiotic kills the biological bacteria.
Think of “-nym” like “name”… homonyms are words that sound the same but are spelled differently or mean different things; a pseudonym is a fake name, like when an author writes books using another name.)
If you are trying to practice these concepts, you can answer someone’s questions like this:
To practice using synonyms, agree with someone, and use a synonym:
1: These seats are so close to the stage!
2: Yes, I like that we are sitting so near to the stage. (close and near are synonyms)
To practice using antonyms, disagree with someone, and use an antonym:
1: I like having a salad before my dinner.
2: Actually, I prefer my salad after my dinner. (before and after are anyonyms)

Synonyms means same or similar, like big - large, huge, enormous, etc.
Antonyms means the opposite, like pretty/beautiful/good-looking - ugly.
How do we use them? Well, if you read books and you encounter words like gigantic and you don't know the meaning, you look it up in your dictionary. Normally, you'll find the synonymous words.
So, it'll give you the general idea of the word.

hi there!
synonyms are words which have the same meaning...take for example the word 'fun' synonyms are: amusement, entertainment, diversion, pleasure and others. you can look them up in a thesaurus. if you have a sentence and you want to substitute a word like 'i enjoyed a GOOD meal' you look for the word good and you find: excellent or wonderful
but be careful: the thesaurus offers a lot of possibilities and you have to chose a suitable one.. a synonym for good might also be beneficial but this would not fit in the sentence above!
antonyms: are words with the opposite meaning..like good the antonym would be bad
cold the antonym would be warm!
greetings, patty
