could native speakers tell me what the difference between the two latin words, lex and jus.
could native speakers tell me what the difference between lex and jus. I found it in a sentence as following: then lex became an ideal to which jus should, but did not necessarily, correspond. It is talking about natural laws. Thank you,

I can only say this because I’m a lawyer and these are Latin words I think. Lex is law and jus might mean justice, but I’m not totally sure of that one. Pretty sure lex is law, however.

Hi :) The topic is very complex, but the main difference is that:
LEX is the law in the sense of "human rules";
IUS is the divine law, so it's related to the religious sphere, which was absolutely relevant in ancient Rome.
I hope I helped you understand the difference a little be more :)
