What does "ask him if he"'d" like to...?
Hello.
Could you please shed the light on the following:
Did you ask him if he'd killed any others? (Does it mean "Did you ask him if he would killed any others?")
I just popped in to ask him if he'd like a cup of coffee because...
Ask him if he'd recognize him.
If you ever find him, ask him if he'd like to earn some extra money.
What is used after pronoun "he"? Would of had?
Is it correct to use "would" in the same clause with "if"?
I got tangled..
Thanks
Hi!
1) if he'd killed=if he HAD killed (it's reported speech, thus Past Perfect)
2) if he'd like=if he WOULD like= if he wants( to earn money, a cup of coffee etc.)
3) if he'd recognize = if he WOULD recognize ( second conditional )

Ask him if he HAD killed
Ask him if he WOULD like
Ask him if he WOULD recognize
The "d" is "had" when it's followed by a past participle and "would" when it's followed by a base verb.
