Hello, I found this link
https://www.englishgrammar.org/words-refuse-reject-decline-deny/
You listed discard too. That is generally used when something that is owned is thrown away, usually with connotations of being unwanted. Like a card in a card game or figuratively even an unwanted person.

1. refuse = you do not accept it. example you order a new tv and it arrives with a scratch on the screen. you refuse to take it or sign forit, you do not allow the delivery man to leave it at your house. you ask for another.
2.reject= there is something wrong with the quality of a product. example a car company refuses to install reject components in it's cars. reject or faulty brake innings could kill so the company refuses a a shipment they ask for replacements.
3.deny = refuse to accept a fact.
4. dismiss = to throw out or to refuse to accept something.
5.discard= similar to dismiss usually used with throwing out material things
there is a certain amount of overlap between all of these words. it is the context that will determine which is the best word to use.
refuse also has another meaning of trash/garbage/rubbish
if you order a tv with a scratch on the screen. It would be good advice to refuse delivery or to sign, until a replacement has been delivered.
