What is the difference of "entschwinden" and "verschwinden"? What is the difference between entschwinden and verschwinden? As far as I know, they both mean "to disappear". Also, are there any other verbs that mean disappear, and when would you use them?Both words appear in the book "Der kleine Prinz". Entschwinden - »Das heißt: ›von baldigem Entschwinden bedroht‹.« Verschwinden - Und der kleine Prinz verschwand bestürzt.

You're right, both mean to disappear. Entschwinden - is a rather bookish style. You might use it in a novel. In spoken language it is not common, unless you use it in a bit of an ironical way. There are loads of other possibilities to talk about "verschwinden" but as so often it depends on the context... Please give a few examples if you have something particular in mind.
