Both are okay and you may make the best decision through consultation.

If you are at the beginning, you may find it quite a strain and so two shorter lessons might be better. It is hard to concentrate fully for 1 hour. In school, the stress is shared between many people and so lessons can be longer than private tuition.

Just speaking personally, I feel that 45 minutes is right for me! Some tutors offer 45-minute lessons, some don't.
