"whiny" vs "weepy"
Hello everyone,
Could someone please tell me the difference between "whiny" and "weepy"?
Do both sound negative if I use them to describe someone?
Any help would be really appreciated.

To weep means, among other things, to cry, so weepy means crying a lot.

Yes, both sound negative. 'Whiny' describes someone who complains a lot, and 'weepy' describes someone who cries a lot.
Eg:
"My friend's child is so whiny and annoying."
"My aunt is very weepy and melodramatic."

Nanako, hi. Whiney simply refers to someone who is complaining, especially when applied to children. Yes, it is negative. Weepy - well, someone can be weepy if their father has recently died. It is not negative.
