What does mean"Keep yourself alive "?

The others said safe - but safe does not just refer to living or dying. Safe usually refers to not being hurt. To me 'keep yourself alive' more refers to just staying alive. Perhaps not giving in to suicidal thoughts, or the temptations of dangerous drugs.
