He didn’t blame her – if he’d had a sister like that ... I came across this sentence written by a native English speaker. He didn’t blame her – if he’d had a sister like that ... I just thought it should be "wouldn't" at the "didn't". Is this kinda a common mistake or the speaker was sure enough that he wouldn't do it that he said "didn't" instead of "wouldn't"? Thank you!

As I read it, the first part of the sentence is just a statement of past fact and not part of the conditional bit which follows. Presumably the person continued with the conditional part of the sentence with a 'would/would have' type construction. e.g. "If he'd had a sister like that, he WOULD HAVE ...."

It's correct. "I wouldn't blame you if you did that" means the person hasn't done the action yet, they are thinking about it.
