What does this sentence mean? Parts of speech
I can't grasp parts of speech in this sentence:
'It was stifling hot inside.'
The girl is hot > it was a stiflingly hot day.
OR
It was a stifling HEAT
But in the first example, it isn't clear enough.

Where did you come across the first sentence? It's not grammatically correct.
It was stifling hot inside --> It was stiflingly hot inside. We need stiflingly in the adverb form because it's describing an adjective (hot)
It was a stifling heat --> this sentence is fine because stifling is now the adjective describing the noun heat.
Adverbs describe verbs or adjectives. Adjectives describe nouns
