"Political posturing" is a derogatory term used to criticize the position or actions of another, usually a politician or group of politicians. It implies that person being criticized does not have a genuine or sincere belief in what that person is saying or doing, and that they are only saying or doing it for political purposes. The phrase has become something of cliché in English, and it doesn’t really express much except, perhaps, the low regard in which the politician’s views or actions are held by the speaker.

Posturing is an imitation or exaggeration of what is not really reality. It's a fake performance. And in politics it is when a state boasts of the fact that in fact has not. This is usually done to intimidation or provocation
