Which preposition should I use to indicate a period of time?
I wonder which word I should use in the following phrases showing a period of time.

In/For the remaining years

In the following years
For the remaining years.
For the rest of time.
It depends on what the context is, you can use both for/in for the first two, depending on the topic. However, we would never say In the rest of time.

Thanks for the tip. Can I ask under what situation should I use "in" and "for"?

“in” and “for” don’t have the same meaning. You should use the preposition that fits the meaning!
