1) is correct! And I would say is the more natural way of saying it and the way I would tell a friend about someone else 5) is also correct and but it isn’t the way I would really say it when just trying to give facts, maybe if you’re trying emphasis that he has had 5 children and he wants more “he’s had 5 children already and he wants 2 more!”
