What is the difference between gutter, waterway, drain, ditch, draining pipes. And how to call the one outside on streets?

A gutter is usually a paved trench at the side of a street that carries surface water especially rain. A drain can be a pipe or a trench that discharges water held in one area. A ditch is a trench dug into the soil used for irrigation. A waterway is usually a canal used for ships or boats for travel.
